New hobby yields mediocre results

When adopting a new hobby, anyone can take pride in honing their skills, striving for excellence, achieving exemplary results, etc., etc, but it takes a certain type of person to aim for lacklustre semi-success and glow with pride at attaining it. That’s where I come in.

My Volvo is getting a little “long-in-the grill” so its odometer has begun cranking out numerical milestones at a fairly steady clip. About a year ago I was driving along minding my own business when I noticed that a notable sequence of numbers had formed on the odometer. With the car clipping along at highway speed, I gazed lazily at the numbers while wondering whether I should do something to commemorate the moment. Consequently, I was a bit slow to grab my cellphone and just missed capturing the milestone moment pictorally. A new hobby was born.

Since then about half a dozen numerical milestones have transpired and I’ve diligently gone about almost capturing them. I invite you to review the evidence and join me in celebrating lacklustre semi-success.
